I learned about this meaningful way to donate today because I signed up to receive weekly emails from VolunteerMatch.org. I’ve been getting these emails since I lived in San Fran, and then Chicago, and now in Seattle.
It’s no secret that identifying ways I can offer help to others (even strangers) is somewhat of a hobby of mine, and as many of you know, I’ve had 2 dear friends (and 30-something year old moms) that were metastatic breast cancer patients (Cheryl & Alison) and are now now longer with us.
Well, the Making Memories organization, and their bridal dress donation program really spoke to me today, so I am getting my beautiful “what am I going to do with it?” and “so precious-to-me” wedding dress ready to send to their collection center in Oregon so that it can be part of their Brides Against Breast Cancer gown sale. They’re looking for gowns from 1995 on and will take veils, flower girl and mother-of-the-bride dresses too.
Maybe you’ll think some about doing this with yours or will share this email with someone that might like to donate as well? Many thanks for helping to spread the word!
P.S. They’re looking for volunteers to work the Making Memories booth at the Seattle event March 28-30, 2008 at Qwest Field, so if you’re here in Seattle, and would like to help, let them know.
